Of parrots and palindromes
November 28, 2006Jennifer Ouellette of Cocktail Party Physics fame has been teaching herself Calculus. The result has been several intersting posts but the one most pertenant here: Zeno’s hypothesis and Phi.
Because my brain doesn’t always work in a linear fashion I got to thinking about Square One, the best math show ever (at least to an elementary school student at the turn of the 90s). With some time to kill this weekend and the reminder that just about anything can be found on YouTube I have tracked down several awesome clips for all the math lovers out there.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find clips of the Parrot reciting the Fibonacci sequence or the Palindrome tango but here are:
- Nine, Nine, Nine - country song about the “amazing number nine”
- 8% of my heart - A Meat Loaf parody
- Combo Jumbo - Soooo 80’s. But manages to work in the term combinatorics
- The Mathematics of Love - one of my all time favorites and one recommended for all you people who come here from a google search asking about Roman Numerals
- Angle Dance - again, very 80’s.
- Mathman, Mathman
- And finally, for your viewing pleasure, A Whole Episode, mathnet segment and all!
Enjoy, I know I sure did.
